openwavu
A home for 3D fighting games. Everything that plays is a title pack.
Early work. Tekken 5 Dark Resurrection (PS3) is the first game with an importer.
Bring your own game
No game data ships with openwavu. You point the importer at your own copy and it builds a stock title pack on your machine: the game's data as a database, models, stages, animations and UI images, plus openwavu's own fighting sim and menus as wasm modules.
Title packs
A title pack is one plain .tar: wasm modules, data, and a front page for the launcher.
A pack can build on a stock pack and change only what it needs. A tk5.db.patch that makes
every move unblockable is already a full pack.
- Change frame data, cancels and reactions as rows in a database, not in hex.
- Replace single files by shipping them at the same path.
- Or fork the sim module itself and make a new game.
Online
- Rollback netcode. The sim is deterministic and saves and restores its whole state each frame.
- Matches go through a relay server. No peer to peer, no IP leaks.
- The launcher has a store: browse packs, read their front page, install a version.
- openwavu.org is one network. Anyone can run their own with the same open server.
Build
Odin plus a script that puts every other dependency in vendor/. No system packages.
./download-deps.sh ./build.sh speed build/openwavu-import <rpcs3 dir | game dir | file.pkg> build/openwavu
